Firewood quality and standards

This action is concentrating on enhancement of firewood quality by production technology development. Besides quality improving techniques, information on current firewood quality and quality assurance methods used in firewood production will be collected and analysed. The main target groups are firewood producers and traders, firewood customers and firewood equipment manufacturers. The possibilities to improve current firewood quality by implementing CEN standards (CEN/TS 14961 Fuel classification and CEN/TS 15234 quality assurance), by introducing new drying, package and storage technology. Best practice applications from different countries will be presented in site demonstrations. Recommendations on suitable quality improving methods for other countries or regions will be made.
